  1. Jake says:

I understand that these furnace tax credits are only on 90afue or higher models, but does it always make sense to spend the extra money on the higher effiecinecy model, just to get the furnace tax credit?

    • Mark says:

Great question Jake! In some areas like Florida or Texas, you may only use heat for a few months of the year, so it may not always seem to make good sense in terms of return on your investment dollars.

That said… the actual furnace cost should rarely be more than $1500-$2000 over the cost of a standard gas furnace.

  2. Darrell Lyford says:

I’m looking to install a Echelon Natural gas furnace. I live in Brewer,Maine. What are the amounts given back by local and Federal Government for 2011? Thanks,Darrell

  3. Bruce Budd says:

I noticed that Natural gas furnaces must be rated 95% AFUE or higher. Does an LP gas furnace with 95% or higher also qualify for this tax credit.

    • Mark says:

      Bruce –

LP furnaces are really just gas furnaces that have a conversion kit to the LP gas. So, yes… a 95% AFUE gas furnace thats been rated at 95% AFUE, will qualify for the tax credit. Whether it actually achieves that efficiency with an LP conversion kit is another story… but the paperwork is the same.

  4. Esther R. says:

Is there any way of telling whether or not a furnace I had installed in my house would qualify? The HVAC company that did the work hasn’t been very helpful in answering the question. It’s a Coleman but the instructions for installation that the company left behind have Johnson Controls on it. Where do I look or what info can I give to see if it qualifies? We could really use the tax credit. I paid about $3200, which includes a humidifier.

    Thanks!

    • Mark says:

Check your furnace model number (Located on the actual furnace itself) and compare it to the models that do qualify Esther. There should be a label on the inside of the access door on the front of the furnace.

  5. Mary Barber says:

Is this rebate for the year 2013. I just bought a new furnace and air conditioner models are L97-709 GMH950904CX and also B98-347 GSX130361 the furnace was a stage 2. Thank You Very Much looking forward to hearing from you. Mary Barber
